My Platform

With the Declaration of Independence, I agree:

We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights, that among these are Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness. — That to secure these rights, Governments are instituted among Men, deriving their just powers from the consent of the governed, — That whenever any Form of Government becomes destructive of these ends, it is the Right of the People to alter or to abolish it, and to institute new Government, laying its foundation on such principles and organizing its powers in such form, as to them shall seem most likely to effect their Safety and Happiness. Prudence, indeed, will dictate that Governments long established should not be changed for light and transient causes; and accordingly all experience hath shewn that mankind are more disposed to suffer, while evils are sufferable than to right themselves by abolishing the forms to which they are accustomed.

I believe all rights are derived from God. I believe the American people have progressed in many ways since the beginning, noting that the Declaration and the Bible both proclaim the truth that “all men are created equal” and this has finally been realized. This being the basis, we should not take lightly the threat of any politician to “fundamentally transform” this country.

Unfortunately, we are now in the process of  fundamentally changing the government for what amounts to “light and transient causes.” Progressives cry for ever more government power. Every further intrusion by the federal government into the private sector damages our freedoms and our prosperity. I also believe that these changes in the form of expanded government and reduced liberties are harming our nation, saddling ours and future generations with debts that will ensure the eventual failure of this great American experiment.

By restoring the place of righteousness in the public square, reducing the size and scope of government only to that which is mandated in the constitution, and returning to sound economic policy we can, not so much change America, but rather, restore her.

  1. Pro-Life
    1. If you take the 3 unalienable rights listed in the Declaration of Independence; Life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness, you will notice that life comes first. Without life, neither liberty or the ability to pursue happiness are of any value.
    2. Abortion is a violation of the right to due process granted in the Constitution prior to the forfeiture of life, liberty, or property resulting in a summary execution of an innocent individual.
    3. The greatest social injustice in America today is the tragedy of abortion. How can we claim to support the oppressed, care for the down-trodden  or stand up for those with no voice when our federal government defends most tenaciously the “right” of a woman to surgically execute an “inconvenient life?”
    4. Roe V. Wade usurped states’ rights (who had declared adamantly that murdering children is not a “right” and forced a lower moral standard which essentially implied that inconvenient life can be disposed of. I desire to see this unjust distortion of the US constitution overturned and the right to protect life restored.
    5. Forbid any and all federal monies from being used to fund Planned Parenthood or any successor or parallel organization.
  2. Pro-Biblical (traditional) marriage
    1. The family is the bedrock of civilization, and was the first form of governance ordained by God.
    2. “Hate speech” laws criminalize religious speech, and penalize those who hold traditional moral values.
    3. “Hate speech” laws silence those who would speak out against certain sexual practices for health concerns
    4. Granting minority status to “sexual minorities” gives special rights to people based on what kind of clothes they wear or whom they sleep with; which is a slap in the face to those who have endured discrimination based on what color they are or the country they came from.
    5. The federal government has no authority to redefine Marriage, or to overturn DOMAs (Defense of Marriage Amendments) passed by the various states, including even California. The federal judge that overturned Prop 8 acted without any legal authority to do so.
  3. Tax Philosophy
    1. Taxes ought not to be any greater than that needed for the federal government to perform its constitutional duties.
    2. Taxes ought never to be used for charity or redistribution.
      1. If done, it fosters the creation of dependent coalitions, with politicians buying votes by offering ever greater benefits at others’ expense
      2. Such use is unconstitutional, and immoral
    3. Property taxes are unjust. State and local governments need to deal with these matters, as they are not the jurisdiction of the Federal government
    4. Tax use and the actual cost of services provided should be made known clearly on the state and local level, for example, the cost for a pupil to attend XYZ public school which the parent’s local tax dollars are funding.
    5. Federal tax dollars should not be granted back to local governments, the Federal government should not have “excess” money to redistribute back. If it does, it MUST lower the tax rates.
  4. Tax Policy
    1. Elimination of the federal progressive income tax and the mess upon which it rests.
    2. Institution of a uniform and simple federal tax code
    3. Elimination of ANY and all federal inheritance or death tax.
    4. Restore apportioned tax (requires repeal of Federal Income Tax amendment, which broke the apportioning of tax revenues.
    5. Establishment of a single percentage based tax or a sales tax,still studying to determine best method.
      1. No new tax enacted or even considered without preceding repeal of the Federal Income Tax amendment.
      2. Abolish the IRS.
      3. Much lower taxes will be needed when all unconstitutional programs, agencies, foreign aid, and other activities are terminated.
      4. No VAT tax.
      5. These programs should ideally be phased out before tax reform, but then tax reform could force their phasing out.
  5. Pro-free market
    1. No government run companies
    2. No such thing as a company “too big to fail.” The free market has mechanisms to keep companies honest and efficient, and one of the most powerful is fear of failure. Bailouts remove that incentive.
  6. Pro-Second amendment
    1. No “assault weapons” ban
    2. Hunting is a great American tradition, but the second amendment is about far more than that. It was the armed citizen who answered the call to arms to support the revolutionary war, it was the fear of an armed populace that made the former Empire of Japan queasy about invading the United States.
    3. No waiting periods or buying limits.
    4. No “serialized ammunition” or any other backdoor scheme to enact a backdoor ban on firearms due to legislative or economic pressure.
    5. No international treaties which undermine the rights of Americans
  7. Pro-Constitution.
    1. No Czars.
      1. Unconfirmed = Unconstitutional.
    2. Social Security: steps to a phased withdrawal
      1. No more drawing money out of social security as a slush fund.
      2. Grandfather in ALL existing enrollees, who have been forced to buy in.
      3. Offer buyouts to those who want it.
      4. Freeze new enrollments.
      5. Give the option for people to opt out and forfeit their earnings to hasten end of SS tax.
      6.  phase out the Social Security tax as rapidly as possible.
    3. Reduce the size and scope of government.
      1. Department of education should be state department, not federal.
      2. Rapid sell off of government owned shares of GM and any other companies to private market
      3. No federal money to bailout any company or bank.
      4. investigate and fully audit the Federal Reserve.
        1. If fraud is exposed, abolish it
      5. Return to a currency backed by something of tangible worth, not “the full faith and credit of the US government”
      6. The Federal Reserve system of fiat (legal tender merely by decree, faithless paper) money allowed the federal government to explode in size and scope. During FDR’s progressive era, the federal government attacked and undermined the money system that restrained its desires to spend without limit and culminated in the removal of silver from the currency in 1964 and then Nixon’s removal of any semblance of gold in 1971.
    4. No unfunded mandates.
      1. Immediate end to all those existing.
    5. No “free speech zones” on public lands, all public land is a free speech zone.
      1. Forcing peaceable protesters and dissidents to “convenient areas” far from the action is wrong.
      2. Permits for protests also abridges right to peaceably assemble.
    6. No government health-care
      1. Unconstitutional expansion of powers
      2. Price controls and flat wages will reduce number of medical professionals like doctors willing to put in the 12+ years it takes to get the degree.
      3. Waiting waiting waiting.
      4. Unlike problems with insurance companies, there is no mediator of last resort when an unscrupulous government makes a mistake or commits fraud/murder/theft.
    7. Repeal the unspent Stimulus money.
      1. Unconstitutional.
      2. The government does not create wealth, it can only consume it.
    8. Full investigation into ACORN.
      1. Return of all federal funds
      2. Bar from participating in Census activities
      3. Fines and jail time for those who perpetuated voter fraud
      4. Fines and jail time for those who aided and abetted other illegal activities.
      5. Bar from receiving any federal funds, grants, or anything of any value.
  8. Energy Policy & Environment.
    1. No Cap and trade.
      1. Unconstitutional intrusion.
      2. Unconstitutional taxation.
      3. Detrimental to the well being of the people
      4. Economic problems
        1. US exports made even more expensive abroad
        2. Decrease standard of living, pushes domestic prices up
        3. energy rationing could lead Americans to a great leap back.
        4. Obama said “Energy costs would necessarily skyrocket”
    2. climate change
      1. Consensus does not equal truth.
      2. “climategate” emails reveal extensive fraud at the highest levels of the climate change scare mongers (IPCC).
    3. Fear mongering
      1. Drives the global warming agenda and pushes for transfer of state and federal sovereignty to global bodies which favor socialism and oppose key freedoms guaranteed in the US constitution.
    4. Yes to domestic drilling.
    5. Yes to Coal.
    6. Let the free market lead the way to alternate energy.
    7. Revoke all unconstitutional legislative power that has been granted to the EPA.
    8. Delete the EPA.
  9. Education on a Federal Level
    1. Restore control of public education to the states and localities.
    2. Public schools failing due to excessive federal mandates and NEA meddling.
    3. Abolish federal Department of Education
  10. Educational Philosophy
    1. Refocus education on Reading, writing, arithmetic, science, history and government (for as long as the federal government remains in education).
    2. Vouchers are essential, giving people back their own money to send their children to the schools of their choice, encouraging competition for the money. DC program was a Godsend for poor children. All children should get this chance. (via state or local money, NOT federal).
    3. Teach to competency in subjects, not multiple choice tests.
    4. Calculators have taken place of mathematics. Should learn core math skills before introducing calculators.
  11. Informed Vote.
    1. Never vote for a bill I haven’t read.
    2. Oppose bills which are clearly beyond the scope of congressional authority granted by the Constitution.
  12. Immigration
    1. Fair immigration policy that does not reward breaking the law.
    2. Absolutely no amnesty or any euphemism for amnesty aka “comprehensive immigration reform.”
  13. Foreign Policy
    1. Immediate reduction of foreign aid.
    2. Elimination of foreign aid
      1. Federal government is poor charity
      2. UN/affiliate organizations is/are a poor recipient for our tax dollars
      3. Encourage private charity to assist foreign countries in need by vocal support, not subsidies or grants of federal tax dollars.
      4. Aid is a moral imperative for individuals and communities of faith, not governments.
      5. It is never to be forced, the very notion of charity is a voluntary act and self sacrifice. NO GOVERNMENT can ethically coerce people to do so.
    3. All wars entered into must be declared by congress, per the Constitution.
    4. Absolutely no tax-payer funded “nation building.”
    5. An end to tax-payer funded nation building in Iraq and Afghanistan.
    6. I support president Bush’s original stated policy of avoiding nation building.
    7. Israel
      1. Has absolute right to use own land.
      2. Has a right to maintain its borders.
      3. Has the right to exist.
      4. Oppose any plan that calls for division of Jerusalem or the forfeiture of land.
      5. Is a sovereign nation with all the rights that go along with that title.
      6. Is harmed by foreign aid handed out to her enemies. The elimination of all foreign aid would benefit Israel in that it would remove aid and comfort from her enemies.
      7. Would be existentially threatened by the creation of a so-called Palestinian state carved out of its territory.
      8. The US (Obama) has no right to demand Israel to surrender land.
