There has been a progressive leftward creep in both parties (most sharply in the Democrats) that was evidenced in the choosing of a semi-closeted Marxist to represent the Democrats and a “pro-war” democrat to represent the republicans in 2008. Due to his “maverick” nature, we would have still been fighting Cap-&-Tax, and some kind of health care takeover, albeit both would have been on a slower, more gradual time table.
A McCain presidency would have very likely damaged Sarah Palin, and when some of the same failed policies being implemented would have been pressed forward by a McCain, it would have almost irreversibly destroyed the concept of conservatism on a national scale, and guaranteed a decisive 2012 democrat victory, of likely a much greater scale than the 2008 results… true 1 party rule.
If the republican party is to be saved, it cannot be done by what Steele and McCain have done: press it farther from its conservative roots, and more towards a liberal democrat platform. McCain with his cap and tax, Steele with his confusion on marriage and embrace of abortionists running under the GOP “big tent,” The party is attempting to destroy itself from the top down….
What do we do in 2012 if, instead of a consolidated and truly conservative GOP, we get McCain 2.0, aka the democrat party? And instead of the Democrat party, we continue to get the democratic socialist party?. It becomes a clear lose-lose choice, with no voice for conservatives.
What do you do if both paths lead to the same destination but with different paces?
Many rank and file GOPpers are solidly conservative, but how do you fight a rotting and liberal party structure that endorses and supports liberals or RINOs when solid conservatives are available?
GOP will only remain, (or become) a viable conservative option when these questions are answered, and these glaring problems corrected. Otherwise, we have no conservative voice. We need solid conservatives to take the cause into the Republican party structure. If it cannot be restored with any degree of credibility into a solid conservative party, it must be abandoned and an alternative built. Granted the challenges of such a task are extreme, which is why it is important a real effort is made to restore the GOP. Perhaps the radical Obama presidency will be a catalyst for a Conservative revival. Don’t rely on the GOP party structure to tell you which candidates are the best. Do your own research. There are good candidates that may not be the darling of the party, but will be exactly the kind of people we need in congress.
Otherwise, join me in a sad rewrite of Beyonce’s irreplaceable:
to the left, to the left, every politician on the ballot to the left.
And thus would the GOP sacrifice its country in a vain effort to gain media darling status. We must never compromise on our core principles.

I was made aware of this story by one of my friends about a group of pastors making their opinions known about Barack Obama from behind the pulpit.
Funny it was a United Church of Christ minister complaining about this. Interesting how one of their member churches, Trinity United Church of Christ NEVER makes any statements that might be construed as supporting a certain Barack Obama or eviscerating others….Todays letter is X and today’s word is Hypocrite! Perhaps Rev. Eric Williams should tend to his
… Read Moreown denomination before denying others the opportunity to do what his does repeatedly and sometimes in the most blatant and crude ways! In fact it was only earlier this year when the beloved Reverent Wright and his guest speakers made their sweet *sarcasm* comments about Hillary and did their best to support Barack.
Well Church of Christ, I guess your chickens are coming home to roost. If only you’d kept your most vocal pastors quiet enough to stay under the radar, perhaps the others would not have discovered their freedom to speak what they think. And now you not only want to silence them, but you also wine about “members of the clergy are ‘exchanging their historic religious authority for a fleeting promise of political power,’ to the detriment of their churches.”
Empty words! Empty words!

No doubt you’ve heard about the official nomination of Senator Barack Obama as the Democratic candidate. No doubt you’ve heard it was on the anniversary of King’s speech. I have read several accounts of the nomination in different Ohio papers. See if you can see the inherent Ironies, especially in this exert from an online article by the Columbus dispatch, one of the larger newspapers in Ohio:
Exactly two score and five years since an American icon brought forth his dream of a society based on the content of a person’s character instead of the color of his or her skin, Barack Obama last night became the first black presidential nominee of a major party in U.S. history.
Every paper I’ve seen highlighted Obama’s skin color. Obama accuses the Right of playing the race card. He says they oppose him because “He’s young and inexperienced, and he’s got a funny name. And did I mention he’s black?” He has been consistant in painting his opponents as racists, without calling them such. But he has no problem with asserting that they oppose him because of his name and color.
I wonder why he doesn’t get on those in his camp (as most major media is) for continuing to make race a main issue. It is being hit so hard, you’d think that to oppose Obama in any form, to question his past associations with terrorists and racists, is to attack a people group as a whole.
Would anyone accuse some of being racist for attacking McCain? I doubt it. It is time for the media to quit worshipping at the alter of Obamania and wake up to the fact that there are very real, very serious issues with Obama, all of which have nothing to do with skin.

Many of you have probably seen or heard about Obama’s performance in Rick Warren’s debate. I would like to draw attention to this part of that. Did you know a similar exchange occurred in the Bible? The context may be different but it is the first thing I thought of after I read Obama’s beautiful dodging maneuver (reminiscent of his dodging of votes on important or controversial issues…)
(Matthew 21:25) The baptism of John, whence was it? from heaven, or of men? And they reasoned with themselves, saying, If we shall say, From heaven; he will say unto us, Why did ye not then believe him?
(Matthew 21:26) But if we shall say, Of men; we fear the people; for all hold John as a prophet.
(Matthew 21:27) And they answered Jesus, and said, We cannot tell. And he said unto them, Neither tell I you by what authority I do these things.
Now let me give you the BSV (Barack Substandard Version)
Obama 1:1 And the mediator asked: The rights of a child, from whence to they begin? And Obama reasoned with himself, saying, If I say “sometime after birth” I will lose the moderates and conservatives?
1:2 But if I shall say “at conception” I fear my party, moveon.org, the clintons, NARAL and NOW.
1:3 And He answered and said, “It is above my paygrade to have an opinion on such things.”
And thus it was continued, not in the so-called “new politics,” but in the politics of the old, for behold the answer given a controversial topic was like unto nothing, and it was.

Has anyone else noticed this? Not long after the story broke NBC, ABC, Jay Leno and the others are all over McCain’s alleged affair. The lady involved in that alleged scandal has been offered money by the same website that offered Obama’s “friend” money to take a polygraph.
If McCain’s alleged sleaze is newsworthy, (and character issues are important to the presidency) then shouldn’t Obama’s accuser have his say in the media? Very unlikely, considering how even some “unbiased” <choke> reporters have swooned over Barack-a-palooza.

Looks like a whole slew of so-called conservatives have jumped on board the McCain bandwagon. It is boiling down to a choice like God gave kind David (after he sinned a great sin): Choose which of these I will do to you: Fall before your enemies, be killed by your enemies, or be plagued by the hand of God for 3 days.
No matter who wins, (save a miracle upturn by Huckabee) they will welcome with open arms both blanket amnesty for (ILLEGAL!) immigrants and gay marriage, as well as attempting to import that wonderful European socialist invention federally funded so-called universal health care.
Wait, before you say “but it will help the children!” Think about these things:
1. The federal government manages social security, the federal funded retirement plan that promises little and is sinking like the titanic in an ice field because they keep tapping money out for illegal immigrants and slush projects2. The federal government “manages” welfare
3. The federal government always goes over budget and yields a poor return.
With the government’s stellar record of managing social spending, do we really want them managing OUR healthcare, (and taxing us like the dickens!) to do it?
I for one don’t. And even if I can afford it, Hillary, I want to have the final decision on whether or not I want to opt in (and I don’t!).
Mirror mirror on the wall, who’s most socialist of them all:
3. McCain
2. Hillary
1. Obama (Endorsed by John Kerry, Ted Kennedy, and Fidel Castro, I mean this guy must be a borderline communist) (In fairness, the Castro endorsement went to Hillary too).

Just words: Conversation with a “conservative”
Posted by americana83 on September 26, 2009
I got the opportunity today to go to a local tea party, the “Common Sense Tea Party” in Kenton Ohio. I got to talking to a man who described himself as a conservative. I previously overheard him complaining about the tea party. He was complaining about Bush, and I did agree with him, that Bush had made some gross overspending and wasn’t really a fiscal conservative. He continued to complain about why all this protesting was going on now. I made the mistake of mentioning ACORN, and he launched into a diatribe about how insignificant ACORN was up for billions of dollars of stimulus money, which he refused to believe. He then redirected the conversation to Haliburton and Cheney’s “assassin squad” and accused me of supporting torture. I said sarcastically, “sure” and then when on to say that no right-thinking person embraces torture. (The Iranians and Al Quaeda and other must have been rolling on the floor laughing when the “torture memos” were released and circulated by the ACLU).
I then asked him what he meant when he said he was “conservative,” and what beliefs he had (I suggested a few: low tax, smaller government, pro-life, etc). His only response was that he believed “everything should be made to be recycled.” I said, oh, you mean conservationism, and said that I agreed that recycling is good. So not getting anywhere beyond that, I asked him, well, what politicians in Washington are most in line with your views. He said, “Al Franken.”
Some other beliefs proudly proclaimed by this “conservative”
He was only here because there had been a statement released that people would be allowed to address the crowd. He left shortly after they called anyone who had emailed them to get ready to speak.
It is important that we not be deceptive when we use words. This man called himself a conservative and claimed to be fed up with both parties, yet was constantly touting Obama’s agenda, and pushing him to move faster and go farther. He slammed the participants and adamantly defended ACORN, and its lawsuit against the young couple that has almost single-handedly brought to light their whole criminal enterprise.
Whatever your values are, whatever beliefs you hold, always be open and honest, and strive to use truthful language. Deceptive language only causes confusion and loss of credibility. One other thing I learned quite a while back is that labels are inadequate. McCain was called “right wing” and “conservative” but in reality he was neither of those things: he was a centrist, not subscribing to many of the tenants of American conservatism (small government, global warming is a hoax, low taxes, gun rights, free speech- see the McCain-Feingold Act).
Anyone can use a label. Before you accept it at face value, dig deeper.
